CLASS workshop attracts interest at the HiPEAC 2020 conference
The CLASS project was involved in a workshop that was co-located at the HiPEAC 2020 conference that took place on 20-22 January 2020 at the Bologna Polo Congressuale venue, in Bologna, Italy. The workshop, titled “NG-RES: Workshop on Next Generation Real-Time Embedded Systems” was held on 21 January and attracted several experts from the field of embedded systems, distributed and/or parallel real-time systems, and multicore real-time computing.
In particular, the workshop focused on real-time embedded systems, with the particular emphasis being on the distributed and parallel aspects. The event was a venue for both the networking and multicore real-time communities aiming at cross-fertilization and multi-disciplinary approaches to the design of embedded systems.
The workshop organiser Marko Bertogna from the HiPeRT Lab of the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (one of the CLASS partners) made great efforts to collect talks and several technical sessions of high interest. The invited speaker was Luís Almeida from CISTER Research Unit and Instituto de Telecomunicações from the University of Porto, Portugal, and his speech was focused on SDN for dynamic reservations on real-time networks. The full programme and the content of the technical sessions can be found on the workshop’s page here.
“We were glad to be given the opportunity to set up a workshop on advanced real-time embedded systems within the HiPEAC 2020 conference programme”, says Marko Bertogna. “The workshop welcomed contributions from the research and industry sectors and proved a success by bringing together original research results and state-of-the-art developments in the ecosystem of embedded systems”, he adds.
